Number 7: Create Time
How do I create time you may be asking me. No I do not own a Delorean time machine and no my name is not McFly but that would be cool, if you want to create more time then you need to wake up earlier. Yes, I said it, get your ass up an hour earlier. That requires you to do one thing, take the remote control find the word OFF and simply press it. Turn off the latest reality TV show that has no bearing on if you are going to be successful or not. Use the extra hours in the morning to get that reading in or that workout in. People are fast to complain how they have no time but nobody wants to create it. So hop in the Delorean that looks like a bed an hour earlier and get up an hour earlier and watch your life change.
What else can you do with that extra time you just created? Start writing in a journal. That’s right every morning when your mind is fresh from all the daily distractions and before anyone else wakes up to bother you take the time to unleash your thoughts on paper. This will clear your mind and allow you to get the most important thoughts going through your head down on paper. With your ideas down on paper you can now go on with your day and think about all the wonderful thoughts you put down on paper. I am notorious for forgetting about ideas that I have and a journal helps me keep track of them. All the greats keep a journal, maybe it’s time you do too.
Majority of the people in the world walk around in a dehydrated state. Our bodies are made up water. The average human adult male is approximately 60% water. Muscle tissue is comprised of 75% water. Water helps eliminate waste from the body, helps with fat loss and helps the body perform. Feel like crap a lot? Take a look at your water intake, you are probably not drinking enough water to keep you healthy and keep your brain functioning the right way. Drink at least two glasses of water upon waking up in the morning, that will help kickstart your body and the give you a head start on your overall consumption during the day. Ok time to take a break from writing and go drink some water.
No I am not talking about the cell phone company although I do hear thy have some good rates. I’m talking about getting out to the track, yes that oval looking thing that has white lines on it that can be found at most high schools. Now run as fast as YOU can down the straight away, as you reach the turn stop. Congrats, you have sprinted, now I am not looking for you to be as fast as Usain Bolt, if you’re asking who that is, well he is the fastest man on the planet, check him out this summer in Brazil. Sprinting is a form of anaerobic exercise which will help burn fat and build muscle. Have you seen an Olympic sprinter? If not go Google that after you finish reading this of course. Sprinting is one of the best forms of exercise and you really just have to find the local track or an open field and have at it. Make sure you watch some technique videos on sprinting or just click here to watch our Sprint Seminar. Remember that sprinting is as fast as you can go, don’t worry about anyone else and you will get some great results. Try this sprint workout, Sprint the 100 meter straight aways and walk, I mean walk slowly the curves, when you get to the next straight away, you got it sprint 100 meters. Start with going around the track twice and every week add another straight away. Soon you will be up to four times around the track and that my friend is a pretty awesome workout.
Yes, all those years when your parents told you to stand up straight, they were right. It’s your responsibility to fix your posture. If you have bad posture it can lead to all sorts of problems. If your shoulders are rolling forward all day long don’t wonder why you suffer from headaches. If your body is not aligned the right way and you are working out it can lead to injuries because of the way your body will compensate for itself. Fix your posture and a lot of problem will fall into pace. If I could I would smack you in the back of the head like your mother and tell you, “Stand up straight!”
I should have put this one in the first set of tips but it’s here now and it’s important. All too often as humans we want instant gratification. We want to have things now or else someone will pay the price. I’m guilty as charged, if I want a book to read (Yes, I follow Tip 6) I will pay more at the bookstore rather than get it on Amazon for a cheaper price. And this goes on for many people trying to get healthy. They want it NOW. But it does not come that quick or that easy. If it took years to become overweight and unhealthy do you honestly think it will all turn around with a few good meals and a few trips to the gym. Hell No! Instead of looking for it all now you have to embrace the challenge and the fact that this is about creating a new lifestyle that you can have forever. It’s about LIFESTYLE CHANGE. Short term thinking only last for the short term, start thinking about your future.
